[Use of the AO plate as external fixation].

There are severe bony lesions in trauma and orthopedic surgery which are difficult to stabilize with all the well known methods. The use of a ASIF-plate applied as an external fixation can be a good alternative in exceptional situations. Those cases are discussed.
