The operative techniques of subcutaneous transposition of the renal vein in the heterotopic canine kidney transplant model and of the carotid artery are described in detail. Following this procedure a chronic percutaneous access of the renal vein and carotid artery for investigations of the kidney transplant metabolism and blood pressure measurement respectively is possible.
