We report on a case of sonographic detection of a foreign body (wooden splinter) in the abdomen with covered perforation of the jejunum. The patient did not know about the existence of that foreign body. We found out later that this splinter must have been in the abdomen for more than two years without any symptoms. A few weeks ago he felt an increasingly sharp pain in that area--probably at the time the perforation of the jejunum took place.
