Abstract

Prophylactic antibiotics are often administered during orthognathic surgery to prevent infection. Prophylactic antibiotics were given to a group of 389 orthognathic surgery patients, with the development of 1 case of acute and 12 cases of chronic infection. One case of chronic infection appeared in another group of 76 patients who had not received prophylactic antibiotics. Antibiotics seem not necessary for routine use in orthognathic operations, as a prophylaxis.

正颌外科手术期间常使用预防性抗生素以预防感染。对一组389例正颌外科手术患者使用了预防性抗生素，出现1例急性感染和12例慢性感染。在另一组未接受预防性抗生素的76例患者中出现了1例慢性感染。抗生素作为预防措施，似乎并非正颌手术常规使用所必需。
