Abstract

Reactions of chloro(alkoxycarbonyl)methylenetriphenylphosphoranes with protected D-ribofuranoses resulted in the exclusive formation of C-beta-D-ribofuranosyl glycosides, which were converted to some C-nucleosides, such as showdomycin and pyrido-[1,2-a]pyrimidine C-nucleosides.
