As a result of increasing standardisation and simplification of video recorders, it has proved possible to use equipment made by various firms for electronic recording. Instead of an expensive central set-up, screening procedures could be recorded either dynamically or statically on mobile recorders in every x-ray room. The procedure is largely automated. Both tape and disc recorders were used in 625 and 1249 recordings respectively. In addition to shorter screening time, there were other advantages which are described.
