Five cases of mesothelioma are described, their clinical and radiological findings are analysed and the results compared with those in the literature. The lesion is a benign pleural tumour which rarely causes symptoms; it is usually found accidentally, but can reach an extraordinary size. Surgical removal results in cure. Only a small proportion recur. Distant metastases are not found. Even when there is a recurrence, cure can be attained by a second operation.
