5 new patients with REM-Syndromes are reported; 4 of them are completely consistent with the first description of Steigleder, Gartmann and Linker. The 5th patient reveals some special clinical and histochemical signs, but also belongs to the REM-syndrome. All cases are different from the plaque-like form of cutaneous mucinosis of Perry et al. (A typical case of this condition was also seen by the author, but is not included in this study). The absence of symptoms, the resistance against any therapy with the exception of synthethic antimalarials, the characteristic localisation and the stereotype clinical signs, the characteristic histochemical findings are remarkable. Even in the HE-stain the histological pattern suggests the diagnosis of REM-syndrome.
