The various approaches for the insertion of a mammary prosthesis have been analyzed including the inconveniences and advantages each of them presents. Experience and careful use of rigid surgical principles can improve the results. One alternative, the subareolar-longitudinal approach, has several advantages. In the author's experience, it made the surgical act easier and has produced a good final result, confirmed in 60 surgically treated patients.
