Penile necrosis in patients with diabetes mellitus and end stage renal disease.

We report on 2 patients who had spontaneous necrosis of the penis associated with end stage renal disease and diabetes mellitus. On postmortem examination extensive vascular changes were present in each penis. Treatment of penile necrosis is necessitated by the inability of the patient to void. However, poor wound healing should be expected. The development of penile necrosis in our patients was associated with a poor clinical outcome and death occurred within months of the onset of the lesion.
