Recent reports have stated that renal adenomas should be considered early, small adenocarcinomas. Beginning with this assumption the problem of therapy of these tumors is addressed. Using 5 cases as examples, a suggested approach is outlined. One should use the criteria of size, gross characteristics, a frozen section biopsy, and the status of the other kidney to decide between tumor excision, nephrectomy, and no further treatment.
