Soviet journal "Medical Geography" and its role in the development of this branch of science.

A brief review of the "Medical Geography" (USSR), the only subject abstracting journal in the world, and the main branches of the Soviet medical geography: theory and methodology, application of mathematical methods (mathematical modelling) and computers, medico-geographical cartography, nosogeography, epidemiological geography, effects of the geographical environment on the health and organization of public health, medical study in the countries are presented.
