During a 5 year period 26 selected infertile men underwent surgical correction of varicocele. They were followed up for at least 1 year after surgery. Significant improvement was detected in sperm count and motility (%) of semen analysis after ligation of the internal spermatic vein. Eight of the wives became pregnant after operation. The correction of varicocele by ligation of the internal spermatic vein is an accepted treatment for male infertility.
