Abstract

Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging can noninvasively depict the heart's anatomy and wall motion in either two-dimensional or three-dimensional display. It can also measure flow and oxygen content in the cardiac chambers. Because of these abilities, NMR imaging is the ideal instrument for evaluating children with heart disease. In this article, the technology of NMR imaging and its application to cardiology are summarized.
