[Intrauterine ultrasonic tomography (IUT): comparison with macroscopic sections].

Clinical gynaecological examination and the imaging techniques in present use are insufficient for an accurate diagnosis of changes of the myometrium. The intrauterine ultrasonographic tomography (IUT) permits the differential diagnostic imaging of normal myometrium, leiomyomata, uterine carcinomata and sarcomata . There was good correlation between intra-uterine ultrasonograms and sections at the same level of selected normal and pathological hysterectomy specimens.
