A halo-caliper guidance system for bi-maxillary (dual-arch) orthognathic surgery.

This paper reports a simple method for localisation of both maxilla and mandible into planned new positions when both jaws are to be freed during bi-maxillary orthognathic surgery. A three stage system using a halo frame and a detachable caliper of one eighth inch rod and two universal joints is described for use with either silver cap splint or orthodontic arch wire fixation.
