A review of diseases of dogs of public health significance in Nigeria is given based essentially on recent findings. The objective is to collate and inform the public of some Zoonotic diseases which have been reported in owned and stray dog populations in Nigeria so as to encourage better methods of pet health care delivery and control in the country. Rabies, Q fever, Toxoplasmosis, Brucellosis, Salmonellosis, Coccidiodomycosis, Ring worm and Helmithzoonotic parasites associated with Ancylostomiasis, Echinococcosis, Toxocariasis and Cestodiasis are among diseases transmissible from dogs to man in Nigeria.
本文主要基于近期研究结果,对尼日利亚具有公共卫生意义的犬类疾病进行综述。目的是整理并向公众通报尼日利亚家养犬和流浪犬群体中已报告的一些人畜共患疾病,以鼓励该国采用更好的宠物医疗保健和控制方法。狂犬病、Q热、弓形虫病、布鲁氏菌病、沙门氏菌病、球孢子菌病、癣以及与钩虫病、棘球蚴病、弓蛔虫病和绦虫病相关的蠕虫性人畜共患寄生虫,均为尼日利亚可从犬类传播给人类的疾病。
