[Nailing of pertrochanteric fractures after Lezius and Herzer (author's transl)].

Out of a total of 297 patients (1967 to 1973) suffering from pertrochanteric fractures, 122 patients underwent operative treatment and were followed up by a questionnaire. The late results do not differ significantly from patients treated conservatively. There is only a decrease of the mortality rate during hospitalisation.
