Cardiorespiratory response to exercise was studied in 111 coronary patients. Resting oxygen and hemodynamic support was not affected in either the patients with atherosclerosed coronary arteries, or those with intact ones. Three types of cardiorespiratory response to exercise were identified--normal, compensated and subcompensated. A possibility of predicting the extent of coronary reserve in coronary patients, without exercise intensified to threshold values, was explored. The pattern of cardiorespiratory response to exercise in coronary patients with intact coronary arteries is described.
