[Lung resection with dissection of the bronchial opening].

Resection of the lung with a wedge-shaped dissection of the bronchus opening followed by the transverse suturing of the defect of the bronchus and trachea by interrupted lavsan sutures on atraumatic needles is recommended by the authors for all diseases of the lungs. Their experience with 147 operations of this kind evidences a considerable reduction of the incidence of bronchial fistulas in the postoperative period. Out of 117 lobectomies with a wedge-shaped dissection of the opening of the lobar bronchus a bronchial fistula was found in 1 patient (0.9%).
