Leiomy(sarco)mas of the oesophagus are rare tumours, which often cause ill-defined disturbances in the passage of solid food. The diagnosis can be established by simple radiological examination and endoscopy. There is no infiltration of the mucosa and it is undesirable to take biopsy specimens from such tumours through intact mucosa. The treatment of choice of leiomyoma is enucleation; that of leiomyosarcoma is resection.
食管平滑肌瘤（肉瘤）是罕见肿瘤，常导致固体食物通过时出现不明确的障碍。通过简单的放射学检查和内镜检查即可确诊。不存在黏膜浸润，不宜通过完整的黏膜获取此类肿瘤的活检标本。平滑肌瘤的首选治疗方法是摘除术；平滑肌肉瘤的治疗方法是切除术。
