[Prevention of wound infection after open injuries of the limbs by hyperbaric oxygenation].

The effect of HBO on the clinical course of open traumas of extremities was studied in 165 patients. The early inclusion of HBO in the complex therapy of such patients was found to give 2,4 times less incidence of wound infections. The normalizing effect of HBO on central hemodynamics, local blood circulation in the trauma zone, microcirculation in this area, immunity and external ventilation was noted.
