The condensations of the vitreous consist of parallel, in some cases of horse's tail like structures of the vitreous body. These tractus according to their position are equivalent to the funnel shaped embryonic blood vessels which run from the optic disc to the ora serrata, and are thus determined by the embryonic development. The always parallel structures produced by the vitreous cells appear as multiple beginning and ending fibers. The reticular "fibers" appearing after fixation or equally well in liquefaction of the vitreous can be produced in the watery filtrate of the vitreous, for instance by addition of acetone. They might be regarded, therefore, mainly as fiberlike artificial precipitation products.
