A novel, solid phase, enzyme immunoassay for the measurement of human plasma follicle stimulating hormone has been developed. The method is a direct, competitive inhibition system of high precision and accuracy. It compares favourably with solid phase radioimmunossay using the same antiserum and hormone preparations. Hormone reference values are presented for normal men, and for women at various stages in the menstrual cycle and in the menopausal state.
