The only slowly regressive fraction of the extrapulmonary forms of tuberculosis are due to the long latent period between the primary infection and the organic manifestations. Recently, shortterm programs which require further clinical trial confront the established longterm chemotherapy carried out increasingly with outstanding success as an outpatient therapy. The support of an effective drug therapy by corticosteroids in the exudative florid initial stage of urogenital tuberculosis for the prevention of specific strictures with threatened organic loss continues to be given. In the indication for timely operative measures in the stabilization phase, the immune status should also be included as well as the morphological criteria.
