Abstract
This paper gives data on the accurate systematic postion of the genus Hirmocystis which has to be placed in the Family Hirmocystidae Grassé 1953. A list is given of the 17 species belonging to this genus with the names of their hosts (chiefly Coleoptera) and their geographical localization.
