Lateral pharyngeal "pouches" in young men are described. They are not to be confused with true laryngeal cells as often mentioned in the literature. The radiographic diagnostic of the pharyngeal "pouches" after barium swallow together with the Valsalva test is demonstrated in review of the own casuistic. Increased intraluminal pressure caused by instrument- and glassblowers may be an etiologic factor as well as an acquired defect in the lateral pharyngeal wall.
