Diseases of the ileocecal valve are rare. Symptoms are caused by intestinal obstruction resulting from an enlargement of Bauhini's valve. The diagnosis in confirmed by x-ray. Only coloscopy and biopsy can verify the nature of the neoplasm. Regional ileocecal resection is the treatment of choice for benign lesions. In cancerous lesions hemi-colectomy has to be performed.
