Subdural hematoma may be difficult to visualize on standard axial views in computerized tomography (CT). There are a number of reasons for this. The hematoma may be too small to cause a significant shift of the midline. The content of hemoglobin in the clot may vary from case to case. The clot may appear isodense to the surrounding brain tissue in one patient, and in another patient it may be of increased density. We have noted that the use of the coronal view significantly improves the visualization of a subdural hematoma. Not only is the hematoma better visualized, but ventricular displacement in both lateral and downward direction is better appreciated. We are presenting five such consecutive cases studied by us.
