Head injury is a major contemporary health problem. Obviously, the best solution is the avoidance and prevention of accidents. The physician who treats patients with multiple injuries must be prepared to make an intelligent assessment of the neurologic injuries, to undertake the initial resuscitation and, when necessary, to do the definitive surgery.
