Long-term bed rest of patients with tuberculous affection of the locomotor system results in gradual change in the circulatory system. The initial stage of hypokinesia is characterized by diminution of the total and central blood volume, by reduction of the arterial and venous pressure bringing to a decrease in the cardiac out-put volume. Then stabilization of the hemodynamics at the new level takes place due to the intensive action of certain compensatory mechanisms.
