Cushing's syndrome due to hyperplasia of the adrenal cortex can be treated by total adrenalectomy with one of the adrenal glands transplanted with a vascular pedicle to an easily accessible site. If the symptoms persist or recur after the operation, superfluous transplanted gland can be partially resected under local anaesthesia.
