A constant feature of medical emergencies is the need for maximum speed. The problem of the fast, effective, comfortable transport of the skin is becoming increasingly evident in a society where heavy traffic often paralyses main roads and the creation of well equipped hospitals encourages the transport of the sick over previously inconceivable distances. In this situation helicopter transport becomes a basic and irreplaceable factor in the public health service.
