By combining the very old concept of using fresh cadaver homograft ear cartilage with the more modern idea of a musculo-cutaneous flap, a new ear has been constructed for a patient who was considered unsuitable for standard reconstructive procedures. The early cosmetic result appears satisfactory and the patient's hearing has been significantly improved.
