EPs on the stimulation of one or both hands simultaneously were studied in the caudate nucleus, frontal and somatosensory cortex in alert monkeys. The types of interaction of afferent volleys were found to be as follows: facilitation, summation and depression. The amplitude and peak latency of the EP in the caudate nucleus correlated mainly with the EP in the frontal cortex. The role of the frontal and somatosensory cortex in forming the sensory responses in the caudate nucleus, is discussed.
