Personal experience of aiding 58 colostomised patients is reported. Certain basic aspects of aid in the immediate and later postoperative period are emphasised: diet, stools, irrigation, psychological support. Follow up showed that most patients returned successfully to normal life, returning to work and in some cases to the practice of sports.
