[Ophthalmodynamometry in senile macular degeneration].

The pressure in the ophthalmic artery was measured in two groups of patients - a group of 69 with "dry" and one of 78 with "wet" senile macular degeneration. The pressure was measured during posture change from supine to sitting, with Müller's ophthalmodynamometer. The findings were compared with those obtained in 57 healthy elderly subjects. In the group of 69 patients the drop in pressure was greater than in the control group, and in the group of 78 patients it was much greater, averaging 18.6% in systole and 20.2% in diastole.
