A new apparatus has been developed to facilitate a good, effective transfer of protein from a first-dimension gel into a second-dimension gel. This new simple apparatus makes running time of the slab gel short and is convenient for the simultaneous processing of many polyacrylamide gel slabs and ultra-thin (100 micrometers) gels. Many gels can be run at the same time in a small space and be readily inserted or removed. Multiple gels can easily be prepared. The plates can have any desired shape and dimension, and their thickness can easily be changed. The present method is very simple and inexpensive, has a wide application and has many other advantages.
