[Membranous glomerulonephritis in 10 diabetics].

Membranous glomerulonephritis (MGN) seems to be not infrequent in diabetics. We found it in renal biopsy specimens of 10 patients (from a total of 111 investigated by semithin technique). In all of those specimens which were also examined by immunofluorescence technique the diagnosis was confirmed (6 times out of 44 diabetics). All cases with MGN showed proteinuria, most of them a nephrotic syndrome. In 3 patients we observed a combination of MGN with diabetic glomerulosclerosis (GS). Conventional paraffin sections are inadequate for the diagnosis of MGN and the certain distinction from GS.
