Measuring severity and change in anorexia nervosa.

The State of Mind Questionnaire measures severity and change of clinical state in anorexia nervosa. Its two parts, the Beck Depression Inventory and the Anorexia scale correlate highly with each other. Test scores of hospitalized anorectic patients are significantly higher than scores of normal controls. Both test scores correlate positively with clinical Global Severity Ratings. Serial test scores reflect changes in emotional state. The significance of depression as an important feature of the syndrome is discussed.
