Developmental abnormalities of the kidney in children.

The prognosis for infants and newborns with anomalies of the kidney and lower urinary tract can be improved by differentiating the disorders according to etiology and gearing treatment accordingly. In this second article of a new series on renal function in health and disease, congenital and hereditary anomalies are characterized in terms of their physiologic consequences, and guidelines for therapy are provided.
