Relationship of findings of clinical research and development of criteria: a researcher's perspective.

Simply more research will not answer the problem of evaluation of patient outcomes. Research in nursing related to clinical phenomena lacks a specific focus and sustained pursuit of subject matter. What is required is unifying theory, a recognition that the existence of ambiguity is essential to the creation of science, an open mind, and the ability to criticize oneself objectively.
