Abstract
Risk factors for stroke include age, hypertension, coronary artery disease, and transient ischemic attacks. The latter in particular may respond to therapy with antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, and surgery. In patients with progressing or completed stroke, surgery carries a high risk, and medical management is favored.
