Maternal infections. Problems and prevention.

Prenatal care; proper aseptic technique in labor, delivery, and postpartum areas; and general postpartum hygiene are important factors in preventing nosocomial infections. However, if these infections do occur, they must be promptly recognized and early signs and symptoms reported in order that proper therapy may be instituted.
