It can be confirmed still today the polyviol implant occupies an outstanding position as a kind of material for implants used within retinaoperations refering to Custodis. The polyviol implant sets an example that in ophthalmology it is the best way to test synthetic material on monkey's eye before really introducing them. As far as the sclera is concerned, the histologic cut of the conjunctival covering allows a conclusion on physiologic compatibility of the implant material.
