[Xeroradiography--an alternative to radiography?].

The xeroradiographic system uses charged selenium coated plates in place of film. In medical radiology the system has been in use for some years, especially in mammary examinations. Medical xeroradiographic equipment is well suited for diagnostic use in orthodontics and oral surgery. A prototype for dental use has been developed in the USA. Intraoral cassettes are used in combination with a dental x-ray machine. Image quality is superior to conventional film. In the future, the use of xeroradiography in radiographic interpretations seems promising.
