Instead of giving details of the large experience gained in a specialized hospital department, the authors group together several examples seen in general daily practice. The lesions discussed, therefore, are usually limited in size and found in elderly patients. For this reason any dermatological procedure which does not allow for biopsy control is rejected. Radiotherapy has the same disadvantage even though very good results are obtained. Against this type of treatment is the high cost of either successive displacements or hospitalization in a very specialized department. Surgery remains, therefore, the treatment of choice, inasmuch as autografting with a local anesthetic is often employed.
