Abstract

The effect of cyclophosphamide on transplanted continuously growing teeth was studied histologically. Two groups of 36 rats each were used in this study. Rats of Group I underwent dental transplants and postoperative sutures. Those of Group II underwent the same procedures and received daily doses of the cytostatic agent until the day of sacrifice. An analysis was made of cyclophosphamide action on epithelium of the gingival mucosa, periodontal ligament, alveolar osseous tissue, connective tissue situated between the bone and enamel, cementum, dentin, and dental pulp. Cyclophosphamide prevents the appearance of atypical mineralized masses and dental germs.
