[Transnasal canthopexy. Technical aspects (author's transl)].

Transnasal canthopexy re-establishes the normal appearance of paranasal depression to the internal canthus and ensures the tension necessary for effective functioning of the raising muscles of the upper eyelid. Following injuries, this operation is preceded by careful exploration of the orbital walls and their reconstruction by staged osteosynthesis or bone grafts. The integrity of the lacrimal canals is investigated and, if necessary, restored before placing the internal palpebral ligament under tension. Transnasal fixation of the ligament is facilitated by the transnasal shuttle. Hypercorrection should be attempted and a swab completes the modelling of the internal angle of the orbit.
