The treatment of cleft palate deformities in adolescents by orthognathic surgery is complicated and multifaceted. It requires intensive interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment planning, as well as close long-term follow-up. Surgical treatment of the patients may vary significantly from that which is considered standard for similar deformities in patients without cleft palates. Discussion of these considerations and cases are presented.
